Wildflowers

This page contains a list of wildflowers that I have managed to photograph and identify, although any errors in identification are purely mine. My definition of wildflower is any flower I have found growing wild. I have listed them in alphabetical order by Latin name, with common names alongside, and the aim is to continually add to the list.

 

Achillea millefolium – Yarrow. Also known as Common Yarrow.

 

Agrimonia eupatoria – Common Agrimony. Also known as church steeples, sticklewort.

 

Ajuga reptans – Bugle. Also known as bugleweed, common bugle, blue bugle, carpetweed, carpet bugleweed.

 

Alliaria petiolata – Garlic Mustard. Also known as Jack-by-the-hedge, garlic root, hedge garlic, sauce-alone, Jack-in-the-bush, penny hedge and poor man’s mustard.

 

Anacamptis pyramidalis – Pyramidal Orchid.

 

Anthericum liliago – St Bernard’s Lily.

 

Anthriscus sylvestris Cow Parsley. Also known as wild chervil, Queen Anne’s lace, wild beaked parsley, keck.

 

Aquilegia vulgaris Columbine. Also known as European columbine, common columbine, granny’s nightcap, granny’s bonnet.

Centaurea jacea Brown Knapweed. Also known as brownray knapweed.
